mad/loss
we steal off the never-ending-snake line,
a certain type of royal-
sleeping in the city park, under the picnic table
the old rodeo star gives me a jacket in Tsunami City,

he beat me up on the lawn
between the ages of 7 and 9 and
my dad would watch from across the street 
pink tulips, vodka, razors, a salad

I almost drowned from the waves
but I walked back up the beach
I didn't bathe for 6 months so
the police officer swatted
the cigarettes out of my hand
I taste the honeysuckle so 
maybe I was never really cured
the glass was in my mouth
after they shattered the car door
with their batons

the glass has been in my mouth a long time but
I found myself attracted to her as she
pulled out a warm cigarette
from her bra to give me
